San Diego Things to Do - Whale and Dolphin Watching Season

Whale and dolphin watching season is here! From now until the end of April, these amazing marine mammals arrive at San Diego Bay in droves, making it the perfect time to head out on a Hornblower cruise to experience them up close and personal. Climb on board the climate-controlled boat at Point Loma, and explore the deep blue sea on a 3.5-hour tour. Look for endangered gray whales, along with humpback whales, blue whales, minke whales, sperm whales and fin back whales. If you fail to see any whales, you’ll be able to take another cruise for free! Also, watch for sea birds, dolphins, sea lions, and other enchanting animals of the sea. Learn about conservation efforts with professional live narration by expert captains and whalers from the San Diego History Museum. The boat also features a snack bar with hot food and drinks, a full bar, and souvenir shopping – and you’ll get to see San Diego’s amazing landmarks along your voyage as well.

Reserve your tickets in advance online via Hornblower. Prices start at $40 (plus taxes, service fee and landing fee) and there are two cruises each day: 9:30 am and 1:30 pm. Whale watching season is without a doubt one of the top San Diego things to do. Are you planning an adventure in the area?
