Runners and walkers get ready for a fun outdoor event that combines the sport of running with great music and benefits a fabulous cause. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon hits the streets of San Diego this June for a full day of exciting marathon and half-marathon action that benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Register as a runner and get an official race T-shirt, a goodie bag, a finisher’s certificate, enjoy great bands and great refreshments along the way, and get complimentary admission to the finish line headliner concert. Get into a running frame of mind at the free Health & Fitness Expo at the San Diego Convention Center May 31-June 1 to pick up your race number, T-shirt and swag bag, then browse through more than 60 exhibitors offering free samples, sports apparel and equipment, nutrition info, and more. If you’re just there to cheer for the runners, the easy-access downtown race route, which starts at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Quince Street, is perfect for watching, listening to bands and cheering on your favorite runner or group. After the race, head to the Rockin’ Post Race Party at PetCo Park for a toe-tapping experience filled with great food, exciting live music and great drinks. The Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon begins at 6:15am with the main event –the full marathon – starting off at 7am on June 2, 2013. Online registration is going on now and registration closes on May 26th or upon sell-out. The Best Western Seven Seas is situated just 2-1/2 miles from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon starting line.
