The 42nd Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights
Starting at the south end of Shelter Island
Take the little ones out for the spectacular illumination of boats parading across the San Diego Bay in a beautiful lights parade. This time-honored holiday tradition takes place each year thanks to the tireless work of the avid area boating community, the happy crew you’ll see waving while they pass. This year, more than 80 boats are expected to line up for the parade procession, starting at Shelter Island and passing Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and Ferry Landing.
Have some festive fun that’s perfect for the whole family on Sunday, December 8 and Sunday, December 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. Lasting more than two hours from start to finish, you can find a great spot along the Bay to see the merry motoring of these decked-out boats. Approximately 80,000 people come out for this attraction each year, so you’ll take part in one of San Diego’s most popular events. Our hotel is only minutes away from this dazzling display, making it easier for guests to get to this spot stress-free.
Sit back along the dock and watch the colorful boats bursting with holiday spirit. Whether you’ve come to San Diego for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, this is the seasonal scene that can bring out your inner child at Christmastime. With a lot of local flair and flavor, past parades have included the Noah’s Ark/Zoo, a spectacular fireworks show, and an appearance by Santa himself.
