Father Joe's 5k in San Diengo
Looking for an invigorating start to the Thanksgiving season? Then look no further than Father Joe's annual Villages Thanksgiving Day 5k Run. Held in Balboa Park, this San Diego tradition brings together locals and visitors alike for a day of fun, food, and of course, running! More than 10,000 people have showed up in years' past, so this year's event is sure to be no exception.

Contestants who raise $100 from their family or friends can even receive a one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving 5k hoodie. Now in its 12th year, this fast 5k is about more than your average race; it's about reinvesting in the local communities. Profits from Father Joe's are given back to those in the community, providing more than 1.7 million meals to neighbors and friends throughout the area—it's really the perfect way to spend such a giving holiday.

Whether dressed up in Thanksgiving garb or runners' gear, contestants will find plenty to celebrate as they hit the pavement throughout Balboa Park. Upon completion of the 5k, contestants can load up on food, live music, and free beer at the race's starting point. Not to mention a commemorative t-shirt, complimentary continental breakfast, and medals for the top three contenders in each age group.

Registration is $38 for team captains and members and must be completed by Thursday, November 27th. The race begins promptly at 7:45 a.m. the following day at the San Diego Museum of Man. Those 6 years of age and older can even register for timed or untimed races.
