San Diego Events - Cherry Blossom Festival - Celebrate Japanese Culture

Imagine 150 cherry trees bursting into bloom with soft pink flowers – that’s just what you’ll see at the Cherry Blossom Festival, taking place this weekend at the Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego. Along with the gorgeous pink trees, there will also be special cultural performances, family activities, and vendors selling traditional Japanese street food and drinks. Indulge in the Japanese custom of picnicking under the trees, known as “hanami” – and shop for unique gifts and souvenirs at the cultural market. Visit the beer and sake garden for refreshments, and make fun crafts with your kids.

Hours for the Cherry Blossom Festival are from 10 am to 4 pm, on Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6. The Japanese Friendship Garden of San Diego is located at 2215 Pan American Way East in Balboa Park – just 4.6 miles from our hotel. Are you planning a getaway to Southern California? We provide stylish hotel rooms with numerous amenities, including free Wi-Fi, premium cable channels and mini fridges. Enjoy easy freeway access and free parking from our central location.
