Since 1937, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has been entertaining guests with great hats, great racing, and great entertainment. Over the years, the club has been the home to historic races - including a 1938 Seabiscuit race - great celebrity faces - like appearances from Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz - and so much more. Once Opening Day kicks off the racing season on July 16, the calendar is full of great events for an entire season of fun. The great concert season doesn't skip a beat and opens up the day after Opening Day with a performance from The Wallflowers. Events throughout the summer include family fun days like Donuts Day, Jockey Photo Day or Ladies & Gents Day. The concert calendar is always one of the best of the season, and including headlining acts from Steel Pulse, Pepper, Weird Al Yankovic, Paul Oakenfold and Weezer. While there isn't a dress code for general admission, prepare for superb San Diego sunshine! After Opening Day, where hats aren't a requirement but definitely a recommendation, every day at the races is full of walking, sunshine and fun. For anyone expecting to enjoy the private Turf Club, gentleman are required to wear suit or sports jackets, and ladies should wear daytime dresses or suits. Whenever you visit the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, where the surf meats the turf, the number one requirement is always to have fun! Enjoy the outdoors, great daily racing - make sure to bet on a winner - delicious food, and fun.
