Beautiful Torrey Pines

Have you watched the sunset in San Diego recently? These days people hiking on popular trails have dwindled to a handful of mostly local folk. You can join them with your mask and walking shoes for a nice gentle incline up. This natural reserve park has both paved and unpaved trails to the top where you can see all the way to La Jolla and surrounding areas, especially on a clear day!

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is named after a rare tree species which can only be found here in North County San Diego, called Pinus Torreyana. The species was "officially discovered and renamed by Dr. Charles Christopher Parry for his mentor, John Torrey, an American Botanist. Parry was a botanist surveying the US-Mexico boundary in 1850 after California became a state of the union, documenting plants and their uses in the area.

Who knew we could get so close to history during the making of our own? Come away with us in San Diego and experiance more of the Californias' rich history in places like Torrey Pines!
