Air Group One's AirShow San Diego
AirShow San Diego returns to Gillespie Field on June 7th and 8th, celebrating and honoring the 70th Anniversary of the invasion of Normandy Beach on D-Day. The AirShow comes around once a year—this year features a collection of over 55 parked antique, vintage, and classic WWII aircraft, classic cars from the 1920’s, 1930’s, and 1940’s sponsored by Warriors United, a mock dogfight with Pyro, Warbird Rides, and great craft beer provided by the Hangar 24 Brewery. Headlining the show is the gleaming “D-Day Doll,” an C-53 that flew three missions during the invasion. Watching it scream over Gillespie Field will be one of the many highlights of this year’s show.

This year’s AirShow, as always, has a free Kid’s Zone and free parking, with a free trolley from the Gillespie Field Trolley Station to the Main Gate. Enter to win a free ride on the Warbird, among other great themed prizes. In addition to the collection of antique and vintage aircraft, there are a bevy of other educational and informative stalls dedicated to WWII and antique aircraft and the D-Day Invasion. On Saturday, bring your dancing shoes and sharpest 1940’s attire for the themed dance contest—the big band music will be in full effect in the afternoon! Gates open at 9am all weekend, and close at 4 each day. Se you on the tarmac! More information can be found at http://ag1caf.org/about-air-show-san-diego/.
