The 2013 Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego

The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium

Thursday, December 26 at 6:30 p.m.

Once the last of the presents are unwrapped and Christmas is officially over, you can combat those post-holiday blues with some spectacular college football. San Diego is a prime spot for sports action during December, and the Poinsettia Bowl has been gaining popularity for the past nine years. If you love college football, find your way to the stadium to see a team from the Mountain West face a MAC opponent. Sure to be a great game, this is the perfect way to celebrate those last few days of the year between the giving of gifts and New Year’s.

It's both a great contribution to the college football sports scene and an overall great show with a lively halftime performance. After you attend the big game, you can get the full San Diego experience by checking out all the fun things to do in the downtown area.

Visitors love to sit in the stands of Qualcomm Stadium, which has hosted three Super Bowl games, including Super Bowl XXXVII in 2003. Home to the NFL San Diego Chargers and the San Diego State University Aztecs college team, the stadium is located immediately to the northwest of the Interstate 8 and Interstate 15 interchange. Nestled in the Mission Valley neighborhood, the San Diego sports arena is less than five miles from our hotel.
