Referred to by jazz aficionados as the crown jewel of jazz festivals, the much-anticipated gathering of bands from across the United States boasts venues that range from elaborate concert rooms with double dance floors to intimate spaces that are designed for just listening. Whatever type of jazz you prefer, you’re sure to find it at the 33rd Annual Dixieland Jazz Festival that takes place during the Thanksgiving weekend. Acclaimed groups include:

The Dave Bennett Quartet, which comes from Waterford, Michigan, and is led by clarinetist Dave Bennett who also plays drums, piano, and guitar. The band is renowned for its renditions of songs made famous by such classic clarinetists as Pete Fountain, Artie Shaw, and Benny Goodman. Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Cornet Chop Suey has traveled the world, playing every major festival—and they have the dedicated following to prove it. If you enjoy traditional jazz and swing classics, you’ll love the Dixie Express Jazz Band from Lakeside, California. Chloe Feoranzo, another St. Louis musician, is always given a hearty welcome to Southern California. Playing an assortment of reed instruments, Feoranzo wows audiences no matter what music she covers, including blues, western swing, jazz, and big band.
